Emil and the Detective
Directed by: Franziska Buch | Color | 98 Min. | 2000 Twelve-year-old Emil Tischbein lives with his unemployed father in a small town on the Baltic Sea. Just as the father is finally about to get a job again, he loses his driver’s license after a car accident, ends up in hospital, and sends Emil to Berlin for the holidays. In the train Emil meets the crook Max Grundeis, who promises to arrange a fake driver’s license for his father, but then steals all Emil’s savings. After arriving in Berlin, Emil sets out to track Grundeis down, and with the help of Pony Hütchen and her gang of kids, let him know how it feels to have concentrated child power breathing down his neck.
