The Spring of Passion for Women Literature
Young Italian Writers Pietro Grossi

Pietro Grossi grew up with a great passion for writing in the hills near Florence a place he describes as with neither city nor provincial life a lonesome hybrid, but also a place that could bring an adolescent to the typewriter for pleasure and for fun. Later, he would move far away, first to New York and then to Turin, to attend the Holden School created by Alessandro Baricco, one of Italys most famous writers.

His first book, a collection of short stories entitled Pugni (Fists), was a great success with both the Italian public and critics, winning several prizes and being named a finalist for Italys most important literary prize, the Strega. LAcchito (The billiard spot), his second book and first novel, confirms his talent and signals the arrival of one of the most interesting figures in contemporary Italian literature.

Pietro Grossi celebrates the heroines behind the heroes of his plots slight, simple women who face the difficulties and uncertainties of life with strength and elegance.

The Spring of Passion for Woman pays tribute to the rich and complex world of women. It is part of the Embassy of Italys cultural season, a series of events in fashion, photography, cinema, music and literature conceived to promote cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Vietnam and Italy.

Entry is free. Audio translations in English and Vietnamese.
