Cameleon Collection
Silvia Baiardi Valenghi

Born in Lugano, Switzerland in 1966, Silvia Baiardi Valenghi has always been passionate about jewellery as an art form. Living in Africa and inspired by the ancient Tuareg techniques of hammering and incising silver, Silvia produced her first collection of jewellery under the Cameleon logo in 1999. Although inspired by ancient techniques, Silvia’s pieces are totally contemporary. Her unique and original approach is manifested in her choice of materials and forms. Each creation represents an engagement, an affair of the heart, an emotion, a shared experience. Each piece has a story to tell. Created from Silvia’s own chance encounters and discoveries, each piece is an invitation to share her voyage.

Cameleon represents a new concept of art, another avenue of artistic expression, different from painting or sculpture. Cameleon suggests that jewellery can be a work of art one that is exhibited on the arm, around the finger, on the body of the wearer. The demands of creating these miniature works of art present new and exciting challenges to the artist.. During her stay in Africa, Silvia worked in collaboration with a Tuareg acclaimed for his skill in creating the traditional jewellery of his tribe. Now resident in Vietnam, Silvia anticipates the creation of new pieces influenced by new discoveries, new encounters, and new voyages in a new land.
