Seminar: Sat 23 Aug, 3 pm

The lacquer paintings of 5 young artists Vu Duc Trung, Nguyen Ngoc Phuong, Dong Huy Bien, Nguyen Tran Cuong, Nguyen Thu Nguyet show that the expressive power of lacquer art is almost unlimited. From abstract pictures to figurative cum abstract unto pictorial art each painter has his own feature, their artistic individualities differ, so do their lacquer painting techniques.

In geometry, a polygon is a plane figure with many sides and angles. The sides are formed by a broken line of straight segments consecutively linking together and lying on a plane surface. The boundaries in art sometimes are subject to the same law: the link between the “Sides” cerates a “playground” for artists. For this reason, Polygon Exhibition has formed with its 5 sides the painters Vu Duc Trung, Nguyen Ngoc Phuong, Nguyen Tran Cuong, Dong Huy Bien, and Nguyen Thu Nguyet.
In reality, the above lithe simply means that the 5 artists have jointed and linked to form a Polygon that symbolizes the diversity in terms of expression on the same plane via lacquer a traditional artistic medium. They do not wish to form a Polygon with equal sides rather to attain diversity and a variation both in terms of artistic media and the way of expression.
Each “Side” has its own language but the sides do meet at contact points to make a polygon with many sides.
