KVT – Day 11 – Lotus Blossoms and Calligraphy
KVT’s Diary as he enjoys exploring Hanoi in the final days counting down to Hanoi’s birthday.
There is so much great stuff on and so much to see in the lead up to the great day that this opinionated blogger can’t get to the lot…so if you catch an event or a memorable sight send it to [email protected] and we’ll post our favorites so that no one’s left in the dark.
HOA SEN ON HO THIEN QUANG
Riding down Nguyen Du today after a meeting with my friendly dentist I decided to continue on and ride past the small lake. As I got near I had to rub my eyes in disbelief. Floating on the surface was a huge island of flowering lotus. Men were standing amidst the blooms and spreading leaves and poling the mass over the water. While under construction it’s a fabulous installation, all green and luscious pink. The sort of art work any artist could be jealous of. By the look of the wires attached, it will probably be cunningly illuminated at night. Old men were taking their grandkids for a look and the kids were entranced….RAT DEP
CALIGRAPHY AT MODULE 7
Helene Cancalon’s mixed media, calligraphic canvasses are interesting. They are attractive and priced well and the delicate shades of beige would accentuate nooks and alcoves in designer interiors. Like most art that’s displayed at Module 7, it’s impossible almost for it to compete with the rather gorgeous designer furniture on display. Occasionally a piece of art holds its own but more often than not you find yourself interested in things like the very amazing fish trap coffee table. WORTH A PEEK
