Author Patrick Deville has published more than ten works, translated into a dozen languages. His novel titled Pestis and cholera was awarded Fémina prize on 5.11.2012. This is a novel about the life of the bacteriologist Alexandre Yersin, a member of the Pasteur Institute, who discovered the plague bacillus bacteria in 1894. To honor him, the bacterium was named Yersinia pestis.
