Original language with Vietnamese subtitles. The screening is for educational purpose and supportive to TPD Centre’s Young Cinema Fund.

JUNO is a 2007 Canadian-American comedy-drama film directed by Jason Reitman and written by Diablo Cody. Ellen Page stars as the title character, an independent-minded teenager confronting an unplanned pregnancy and the subsequent events that put pressures of adult life onto her. Michael Cera, Jennifer Garner, Jason Bateman, Allison Janney, and J. K. Simmons also star. It premiered at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival, receiving a standing ovation.

JUNO won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and earned three other Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actress for Page. The film’s soundtrack, featuring several songs performed by Kimya Dawson in various guises, was the first chart-topping soundtrack since Dreamgirls and 20th Century Fox’s first number one soundtrack since Titanic.

Swing Girls (2004)

SWING GIRLS (スウィングガールズ Suwingu Gāruzu?) is a Japanese 2004 comedy film directed and co-written by Shinobu Yaguchi, about a group of high school girls who form a big band. The cast includes Yūta Hiraoka, Juri Ueno, Shihori Kanjiya, Yuika Motokariya and Yukari Toyashima.

The film ranked 8th at the Japanese box office in 2004, and won seven prizes at the 2005 Japanese Academy Awards, including “Most Popular Film” and “Newcomer of the Year” awards for Yūta Hiraoka and Juri Ueno.
