From Bookworm:

After an absence of four years Mrs Mai has decided to once again make a fleet of tin can ships.
Once upon a time the residents of a village on the To Lich river in the countryside near Hanoi used to make tin toys out of scrap metal. These tin toys were usually sold on the streets during the Mid-autumn festival (the children’s festival – Tet Trung Thu)

Gradually the village was swallowed up by the city and less and less residents made the toys…Until, finally, only one family kept up the tradition. This family made tin boats that, during the American war, were made to resemble gun bristling war ships and this design persists.

Mrs Mai made her last fleet four years ago and went into a more profitable line of business.
This year the ships (that can chuff along under their own steam) are on sale in Hanoi and Mrs Mai has provided Bookworm with a limited edition of the top of the line models.

They come in four sizes and are sold at varying prices that reflect quality of work.
