Christmas in Italy: Traditions, Rituals and Culinary Customs

The Embassy of Italy in Vietnam, in the framework of “Y-Viet 2014” is pleased to announce that on Saturday, the 20th December at 6pm, at Casa Italia (18, Le Phung Hieu, Hanoi) an event will take place on the theme “Christmas in Italy: traditions, rituals and culinary customs”.
As a start Maestro Ton That Triem and his choir will sing some typical Italian Christmas Carols, the most popular of which is “Tu scendi dalle stelle” (“You come down from stars”) .
Soon after VivereVietnam, a project by teachers of Italian Language and Culture, will introduce some Italian Christmas practices, rites and typical dishes served on the occasion of the Festivity.
The highlight of the event will be the official unveiling of the Christmas Tree and the Crib prepared by VivereVietnam and some Vietnamese students from different universities and Institutions. Also the meaning that children and adults give them in Italy will be shortly explained.
The evening will be closed by drinking toasts to everyone, to the Festivity (and to the forthcoming New Year too) with “Spumante” (the Italian champagne), and by tasting the centerpiece of Italian Christmas dessert, “ il Panettone”.
Center for the academic promotion and orientation of study in Italy Uni-Italia was established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, University and Research, the Ministry of Interior. Uni-Italia Association has the aim of promoting Italian Higher Education and the mobility of foreign students and researchers towards Italian universities as well as encouraging academic cooperation between Italy and other foreign countries.

This event is open, however, please be informed that Casa Italia has limited space and it might not be able to host a lot of people..
