New Talents Film Festival Clap Hanoi

17 – 25 Jan 2015
L’Espace

From L’Espace:

From January 17 to 25, 2015, join us at L’Espace for the first edition of CLap!, the festival dedicated to fiction and new talents in cinema, television and on the internet.

At the French institute in Vietnam, we have decided to create this new program after seeing so many new developments in the field of fiction film making. For ten years, TV series have developed artistically and commercially in ways that were unheard of in the previous decades. Easily accessible special effects tools and new cameras allow video artists to go further in the exploration of moving picture making. Web videos make unknown talents the new stars of today and tomorrow.

With this event, the French institute in Vietnam wishes to carry two of its main objectives: promoting French content and contributing to the development of Vietnam media industry. We wish to create discussions, inspiration and emulation between both industries. our ambition is to have an artistic approach, but also a professional one, in order to give to young artists some key tips to success.

All along this Festival week, different sessions will be organized, each one presenting a specific format. French and Vietnamese professional speakers will also be here to talk about their experience, give their advice on the evolution of the media & entertainment industry and all those new opportunities. They will discuss with the audience through a simple “question and answer” format, after some of the sessions.

New Talents Film Festival Clap Hanoi 1

For this first edition of CLap! we have decided to focus on 7 specific formats: TV shortcoms, scripted reality, cinema short films, video art, first feature films, web contents and TV series. We chose films based on their artistic value, but also on the way they were produced and fabricated. Thus, you will discover how films are made possible from the very professionals that made them. You will also see how all those different sectors are not fragmented anymore. Now is the time of convergence: cinema anywhere, anytime, on any screen and in any business models possible.

For instance, the French company Studio Bagel, specialized in humoristic web series, will soon produce its first feature film for the cinema. another example: before being a huge success on TV, the serie The Returned was a feature film. The French company Lagardère produces TV shortcoms, but also TV series, TV shows… as well as the Vietnamese company BHD. and with Rap News, Vietnam plus gives us the opportunity to stay informed in a funny way!

As you may have understood, creativity, originality, and novelty will be the key words of this week.

Admissions are free, limited seats. Come and let yourself be surprised!
