CRACKING BAMBOO is a festival of encounters between South-East Asian and European music. The unifying element is percussion instruments.

Cracking Bamboo
This family of instruments offers communication possibilities that perhaps no other can, permitting a connection to be established between occidental and traditional non-European music.
But percussion instruments also open a spectrum of gateways for dialogue with other artists. So Cracking Bamboo 2010 will invite not only drummers but also dancers, singers, video and performance artists from all over the world who, in workshops and master classes, will meet, exchange and work together. The results of these collaborations will be presented as unique performances on stage.
In 2008 Cracking Bamboo, with 50 artists from 20 countries, presented an unforgettable program for an audience of over 6,000 in Vietnam and the region. This year, with stops in Hanoi and HCMC, it promises to be one of the highlights of Germany Year in Vietnam 2010.
