Hue
- an excursion to three beautiful locations.
Everywhere in the world there are cultural treasures which must be preserved. No country can do it alone.
It requires the efforts of many, to gather experts and financial support together. And this is also true for Vietnam, with its history marked by colonialism, wars and destruction, which left many monuments and sites neglected for years.
The Audio Slideshow “Cultural Conservation in Vietnam” shows three beautiful locations which demonstrate that there has been a change here. It is now available in Vietnamese, English or German. A DVD shows viewers how German and Vietnamese teams together breathe new life into cultural monuments. The ceiling and wall paintings in the An Dinh Palace in Hué were as expertly conserved and restored as were portions of the nearby tomb of King Tu Duc. Both projects were combined with the training of urgently needed local restorers by experts from the German Conservation Restoration & Education Projects (GCREP). The reinstatement and restoration of the village center of Tran Dang near Hanoi was a third success story, one which played out directly in the life of the village.
