On the occasion of the closure of the Y-Viet 2012 Programme, the Italian Embassy in Hanoi in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam has the pleasure to announce the jazz concert Il Tango da Napoli a Buenos Aires performed by the “Giuliana Soscia & Pino Jodice Duet” at the Hanoi Opera House on December 10th at 8 p.m..

The “Giuliana Soscia & Pino Jodice Duet” suggests a jazz interpretation of the traditional masterpieces of Roberto De Simone (Italian) and Astor Piazzolla (Argentinian) out of the “Tango from Naples to Buenos Aires” album, which was first presented in 2008 at the Opera House in Ankara.

Giuliana Soscia: accordionist, pianist and composer, she was awarded in 2001 the “Sonerfisa” Trophy in Castelfidardo, International Award for Best Italian accordionist, in 2005 the prestigious “XXXV European Personality Prize” at the Capitol in Rome. She is the first accordionist to join the prestigious Jazz Festival Lucca.

Pino Jodice Graduated in piano in 1987 he is currently Professor of Jazz Composition at the “D. Cimarosa” Music Academy in Avellino. Founder and Director of “Power Jazz Unusual Orchestra”. He won several international competitions for jazz orchestra composition and arrangement, he was awarded the “Positano Jazz Prize” as best new Italian talent in 2002.

Giuliana Soscia & Pino Jodice Duet: established in 2006, the group is engaged in an intense concert activity in the most important Jazz and music festivals.

“Tango from Naples to Buenos Aires”: The musical project addresses jazz versions of the two great masters Astor Piazzolla and Roberto De Simone: The two artists, with their passionate creativity, enclose and give a meaning to culture cohesion in a very similar way. Both had understood that traditions can lose their meaning if they become a habit. Giuliana Soscia and Pino Jodice highlight the importance of discussing on these issues and think over their importance.

The event will see the participation of the famous Vietnamese saxophonist, Mr. Quyen Thien Dac, from the “Vietnam National Academy of Music”.
