7 Vietnamese Artists to Participate in Contemporary Art Exhibition in Japan

Seven contemporary Vietnamese artists will take part in one of the largest and most important exhibitions on contemporary art in Southeast Asia next month in Tokyo, Japan.

This summer, one of the largest and most important exhibitions on Southeast Asian contemporary art will take place in Tokyo, Japan. Co-organized by three organizers: the National Art Center in Tokyo, the Mori Art Museum and the Japan Foundation Center Asia Foundation, “Sunshower – Southeast Asian Contemporary Art 1980s to Present ” has just launched a new website and announced the list of participating artists. Besides famous contemporary artists in the region such as Lee Wen, FX Harsono… Vietnam has 7 artists that will be participating in this exhibition including (in order of birth year):

Tran Luong (1960)
Dinh Q Lê (1968)
Tiffany Chung (1969)
Uu Dam Tran Nguyen (1971)
Hoang Duong Cam (1974)
Tuan Andrew Nguyen (1976)
Bang Nhat Linh (1983)

This is a project that has been prepared for the last two years. Project curators have traveled throughout 10 Southeast Asian countries to carry out research projects, meet artists and select works and artist for the project. The research trip focused on Vietnam was completed by the end of 2015.

The exhibition will be opened on July 5, 2017 simultaneously at the National Art Center in Tokyo and Mori Art Museum until October 23, 2017. The exhibition will subsequently take place at the Fukouka Museum.
