From the organizer:

Think Playgrounds and our partners are launching a new “play” campaign with a brand new theme: Adventure Playgrounds.

Often mistaken for adventurous activities from high places, in the forest or out of the city, the concept of adventure is actually very different and related to urban issues. So what does adventure playgrounds actually mean, and how can it contribute to the development of children and children living in cities?

We have been working with the Japanese experts who have 20 years of experience making changes to urban playgrounds, and trying to create an adventure playground and a brand new occupation in Vietnam: Playworker! This might be a promising start for the future of urban playgrounds for children in Vietnam.

The participation of parents and teachers is of utmost importance to the adventure playgrounds, because the “playworker” will bring practical experiences to those closest to the children. They need to be the ones that understand the children and patient enough to hone their skills, judgement and analytical ability in order to create for the children their own spaces in the playground and help them find their places in society later on.
