From the organizer:

Within the framework of the project Hanoi RethinkFostering creative industries and digital fabrication in Hanoi, Fab City hosts the Design Challenge with the theme of Circular Living from July 11 to September 30. The objective of the challenge is to seek new ideas that can motivate and develop the values and heritage of Hanoi in the cultural and creative economy. The programme is organised with the collaboration of three UN agencies including UNESCO, UNIDO and UN-Habitat.

This can take shape in projects using traditional crafts, digital fabrication technologies, & extended design. We invite ideas lying in the interaction between the past and the future, the old and the new, the tangible and intangible, through innovative strategies, approaches and solutions.

We are looking for approaches to design and innovation that are multidisciplinary, innovative and sustainable, and that showcase the talents of Vietnam’s makers, designers and creatives. The Circular Living design challenge invites creative design ideas that respond to these challenges:

– Heritage, crafts and new technologies
– Distributed Design principles
– Food systems and new materials
– Waste-to-value proposals
– New Education models

Project ideas may explore these themes by drawing connections between the heritage of Ha Noi and possible pathways to create new narratives around them to design the Creative City of Ha Noi. Or buy revisiting materials for urban resilience with circular production models.

About Hanoi Rethink Project – Fostering creative industries and digital fabrication in Hanoi

UNIDO, the specialized agency of the United Nations that promotes industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization and environmental sustainability, has joined forces with UNESCO and UN Habitat to support Ha Noi’s vision to be the Creative Capital of Vietnam. The three UN agencies have formed a partnership under the Joint Programme entitled Mobilizing Cultural Dynamics and Youth Participation for Ha Noi Creative Capital.

In this joint programme, UNIDO will undertake a mapping of the fab labs and creative hubs in Ha Noi, provide a training programme on industrial design and I4.0 technologies for creative industries and organize a design contest to support the development of innovative solutions in the creative industries sector in collaboration with local fab labs, companies, and other institutions/universities. The project is coordinated by the Fab City Foundation who will work closely with UNIDO offices in Vietnam and Austria.

“What to do with the springsheen?” unfolds a kaleidoscopic journey, ushering in the new year with lingering post-Tet jubilation. Each artist explores the theme of spring – new beginnings through their own unique perspectives, weaving together the familiar and the novel, the bewildering and the exhilarating, the joyous and the nostalgic.

Special thanks to our friends Lý Trang and Trần Uy Đức for contributing ideas during the brainstorming stage of this concert.

VANITY VIETNAM proudly presents Tim Allhoff’s solo performance in Saigon, with “Team” Allhoff JAZZ TRIO

The renowned pianist and composer Tim Allhoff’s titular album “Silence Is Something You Can Actually Hear” best represents who he is: a fascinating work – artist that blurs the boundaries between genres and invites the listener on a musical journey.

“Is this jazz? Is this classical? Is it neo-classical? Or does none of that really matter?” These are the questions Tim Allhoff raises, demonstrating his innovative approach as an artist. He describes himself as a border crosser who deliberately does not think in pigeonholes when he takes to the stage.

Tim Allhoff has a unique talent for touching the audience with his piano playing, regardless of genre conventions. Be it a Bach prelude, a jazz standard, a Brahms intermezzo or a freely improvised cover version of a pop song – his music transcends genre boundaries and creates an emotional connection.

“And what could be wrong with listening to Bach in a jazz club or an improvised ‘All the things you are’ on a classical concert stage?” asks Tim Allhoff provocatively. For him, the music is in the foreground, where you can close your eyes and feel. This experience works best without pigeonholing and prejudice.

The award-winning pianist and composer is a major constant in the German music scene. He has released nine albums as a leader, two of them being awarded the prestigious German ECHO award. Allhoff is an artist of many colors, writing and playing Jazz, classical and contemporary music. His works as a composer and arranger spans the arc from solo piano to various orchestral formations, from concert music to international movie scores.

Tim Allhoff worked with/for artists such as Larry Grenadier, Jeff Ballard, Robbie Williams, Fatma Said, Jules Buckley, Vision String Quartet, Nils Wülker, Lucienne Renaudin-Vary, Orchestre de chambre de Paris, Signum saxophone quartet, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Filmorchester Babelsberg, Philharmonie München and many more…

Tim Allhoff is an official Brand Ambassador for Boston Pianos, designed by Steinway & Sons.
