From the organizer:

Sound Affect, Vu Nhat Tan’s monthly experimental showcase continues, this time introducing Luong Hue Trinh and Nguyen Thuy Dung to Hanoi audiences.

Trinh has been attracting attention since moving from Jazz to electronic music in 2010. Since then she’s appeared twice at Hanoi Soundstuff Festival, worked on film soundtracks with Quoc Trung and co-composed with Hanoi’s original electronic son, Son X. She’s also provided sonic soundscapes for the Goethe Institute’s Riverscapes in Flux exhibition and Hanoi DocLab’s Hanoi City Symphony film screenings. Her compositions represent painstakingly arranged blends of Asian sounds and western technology.

Nguyen Thuy Dung was last seen at jamming with three musicians from Mali. The fact that her traditional Dan Tranh playing sounded so at home with African rhythms and melodies is testament to both her versatility and her open minded approach to making music. On Thursday 28, she’ll be improvising live to Tan and Trinh’s digital strains.
