From Goethe Institut:

After the success of Mini Doc Fest 2011 Hanoi DocLab and Goethe-Institute Hanoi are delighted to present the 2nd edition of the Mini Doc Fest 2013, with documentaries by young Vietnamese and Southeast Asian filmmakers.

Young and old, past and present will cross paths at this festival weekend:

At the opening night the documentary classic Story of Kindness (1987) by Tran Van Thuy and a short film with footage by his grandfather edited by Tran Luong will take the audience on a journey into Vietnam’s past.

On the second day, the festival special program Voices from Myanmar, which was presented at the Chopshots Documentary Film Festival 2012, provides an insight into Myanmar. Different short films will show the beauty, but also the conflicts of our neighboring country.

The highlight of the Mini Doc Festival will be the latest productions of the DocLab Basic Workshop 2012. Impulsive, honest, entertaining – the contributions of DocLab reflect the spirit of Vietnamese society today and are closely connected to its people.

The Mini Doc Festival will close with several documentaries by young independent Vietnamese filmmakers on Sunday.

Join us on the journey through Vietnam and Myanmar with different and multifaceted films. It is all about social taboos, complex family structures, identity problems of a young generation and a kitchen!

An exciting weekend full of film screenings, debates and opportunities for exchange offers festival delights for everyone.

Free entrance.
