14 – 16 Apr 2017
7 venues in 3 districts in HCMC

From Institut Français de HCM Ville:

Festival “Krossing-Over” includes 28 shows, which will be performed in 7 venues in 3 districts in HCMC within 3 days. Each show will be performed at least twice, at different locations. Each space and performance is unique.

The closing program will take place at Dancenter with 5 performances and 3 short films about dancing.

During the festival, the show “Beyond Absence” by the Kerman art group from France will take on a completely different form. The texts that have been presented in other performances over the 3 days of the festival will be read, listened to, and performed in this show. Acting as an echo or as a prelude, the moving bodies of the show will help audience experience the festival in a different way, in a different space and time.

Five dancers will invite audience to walk freely through different rooms and create their own courses based on their encounters with the artists. The quintets, trios, duets of dancers will take turn to perform, highlighting the characteristics of the areas they have walked through. Audience will be invited to interact with the artists. It will sure be a once-in-a-life-time experience.

“Beyond Absence” will be performed on April 22 at the French Culture Center (L’Espace) in Hanoi.

Kerman Art Troupe was founded by Sébastien Ly with an aim to produce choreographic projects, including stage repertoire, reality shows, short films. The common point between the products is the combination of dance and many other forms of art (literature, visual arts, photography, film, music). Under the guidance of Sébastien Ly, the festival Krossing Over is expected to widen the interference and connect artists and audience in the city. More than that, Kerman is the name of a city in Iran that is a blend of Hue (Vietnam) and Saint-Aygulf (France).

Sébastien Ly, after graduating from the Angers National School of Dance, became a dancer at the National Choreographer School in Nantes. With the desire to create interactions with the audience, in 2005 Sébastien established the Kerman Art Troupe to be able to develop in-situ innovations, in which some works were performed in museums, combined with the visual arts.
