From TPD:

In the November edition of Cinema Weekend TPD will host the screening of The Deserted Valley directed by Pham Nhue Giang.

The Deserted Valley tells the story of a school in the mountainous regions – where there are only 3 teachers working and living. They are Mr. Tanh – the principal (Nguyen Hau), Ms. Giao (Hong Anh) and Ms. Minh (Tuyet Hanh). Their daily life teaching in the mountainous villages are portrayed through such trivial details: internal and external conflicts, affection, anger…

Released in 2001, The Deserted Valley received wide acclaim. The film was shown in many film festivals in China, Singapore, Australia, South Korea, received the FIPRESCI Award at Melbourne International Film Festival, A Award from Vietnam Cinema Association, and the Silver Lotus Award for the 13th Vietnam Film Festival.

Language: original language (Vietnamese)

The screening is not-for-profit and free of charge
