Hue Festival - Treasures of An Dinh Palace
Posted: 26 May 2008. Filed under: NOT Hanoi.
Since 2005 the current trainee team at An Dinh Palace in Hué has restored circa 1700 sq. metres of elaborate wall and ceiling paintings, under the supervision of German specialists from the non-profit organisation GCREP (German Conservation, Restoration & Education Projects).
This fantastic achievement in the former residence of Vietnam’s last imperial rulers, Khai Dinh and Boa Dai, will be presented as part of the Hué Festival from 1-15 June, along with an exhibition about the project. The trainee restorers, all now largely equipped with the necessary skills to tackle heritage preservation independently in the future, can be viewed at work in one room of the palace throughout the exhibition period.
An Dinh Palace Restoration & Training Project, Hué, Vietnam.
Exhibition 1-15 June 2008.
Open daily 8-11pm & 14-17pm.
Entrance is free.
For fine photos and lots more info, see GCREP’s excellent website.
