From The Onion Cellar:
Buddha Boxing is a ‘sound art game’ devised by the electronic music duo FM3 (Christiaan Virant + Zhang Jian). Inspired by the strategic elements of Xiangqi (cờ tướng), the game features two players duelling over a card table, with Buddha Machines (in their ‘On’ mode) used as the chess pieces. Each player takes turns to either place a new Buddha Machine on the board, or make adjustments to Machines already in play and/or move them to a different position – all the while watched by the surrounding spectators, resembling a normal chess game in just about every street corner. Except that the (de)synchronization of a host of Buddha Machines being played at the same time creates a meditative and surreal experience not like anything you come across in everyday life. After a demonstration game between Christiaan and Zhang, the audience would be invited to take on the role of a Buddha Boxing player (and in a way, a sound artist) themselves. Don’t miss this very special and intimate (and utterly fun) workshop.

Tickets: FREE ENTRY for ticket-holders of I AM THE COSMOS. 50,000 VND otherwise.

Entry is on first come first served basis. Due to limited capacity (30-35) the audience is recommended to come early.
