Van Giang Village
From Friends of Vietnam Heritage:
Join us on this FVH excursion to Van Giang Village, a small village off the beaten track north of Bat Trang pottery village, where you will be able to experience authentic Kitchen God celebrations at a 300 year-old local house, and participate in the preparation – and eating – of food typical of the Tet season.
The trip will start with a visit to the village market to shop for food and to view the paper offerings which will be burned for the celebration and live fish for release into the river. A visit to the local temple will be followed by the preparation and eating of the lunch with the local family, who will share their celebrations of this day, including the burning of paper offerings and the release of a fish into the lake next to the house.
This is a unique opportunity to participate with a Vietnamese family in important celebrations leading up to Tet!
