Ecology. Design. Synergy.

The Stuttgart companies Behnisch Architekten and Transsolar ClimateEngineering have a long history of working together on numerous international projects in the field of sustainable and responsible architecture. The basis of their work is the conviction that high quality built environment and an improvement of living space together with the protection of natural resources is possible.

This exhibition, a result of cooperation between the iaf (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen) and the Berlin-based architecture forum Aedes, attempts to free the term ‘sustainability’ from being viewed as purely quantitative, and to emphasize its multifaceted qualitative aspects. Based on projects conducted cooperatively as well as individually by the two offices, results and future perspectives of this theme will be examined and presented.

In designing the exhibition, curator Frank Ockert was guided by human sensual perception in order to illustrate that a sensitive and responsible approach to the built environment affects not just the experts, but everyone.
