Thao has appeared in the Grapevine previously, having exhibited his Living Fossils series at L’Espace and at the Bookworm. The works were also well-recieved in Singapore.
Vietnam’s representatives at this juried exhibition, including Thao, were nominated by Hanoi’s own Natalia Kraevskaia, of Salon Natasha fame.
The Asia Pacific Breweries Foundation Signature Art Prize is a premier juried prize established by the Asia Pacific Breweries (APB) Foundation and the Singapore Art Museum (SAM).
Aimed at recognising the single most outstanding contemporary artwork produced in the preceding three years in , the competition is open to all forms of visual art. It seeks to highlight new developments in the visual arts, stimulate lively public discussion and critical debate, and provide a cross-cultural exhibition platform for established practitioners and emergent artists alike.
In its inaugural year of 2008, the APB Foundation Signature Art Prize will focus on the 12 countries of Cambodia, China, India, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.
