“VIBRATION”
By artist: Madam Cho Onn-Young with hundreds of artworks.

Artist’s Statement:

“The vibrations of the fine lines are subtle, yet they represent the origin of the powerful life force that energizes the universe. In these lines, my life and thought are continuously “Moving”, sometimes “Waiting”, other times “Growing”, “Flowing” and “Bursting” towards my soul’s “Countdown to Eternity”.

I find myself being endlessly intrigued by diversity and richness vibrant colors give. Though the modernistic monotone occasionally attracts my attention, I soon return to the allure of the vast array of hues.

This time, I am privileged for the chance to exhibit three varied genres of art. The first relates to lithography pieces which have been exhibited in previous engagements. These pieces will help the audience understand the other two genres that follow. The second is on handmade paper work. I applied the marbling technique on the handcrafted paper to fully capture the liveliness of the radiant hues. In line with such animated spirit, I decided to use the wall as a canvas and have released the pieces from traditional art frames. The third concerns jewelry-making where silver beads and semi-precious stones are assembled to make decorative ornaments.

This may seem less related to the previous two genres of art and though I did not start jewelry-making with any conscious intention of connecting it with my prior artworks, I soon realized my ornaments were keenly representative of my art philosophy of loving colors and movement.

My free spirit will eventually lead me to a new dimension of art and I will gladly engage in it, for I know I will inevitably find my unique color in whatever new passion I may find”.
