Australian Girls Choir in Hanoi

– Thurs 09 Oct, 8pm –

The final concert is hosted by the Australian Embassy at the Red Scarf Theatre in the Children’s Palace, Hanoi. The choir will be hosted by the United Nations International School and there will be combined workshops and performances with UNIS.

Free tickets were available at the Australian Embassy but word is they are all long gone. So if you want to see this choir you will have to call in favours from your contacts at the Australian Embassy or UNIS… Good luck!

Founded in 1984 with 150 girls enrolled in four classes, the Australian Girls Choir has grown from strength to strength, and is now a national organisation of 3500 choristers in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. The choir has delighted audiences across Australia and around the world with their beautiful singing, stunning choreographed items and spectacular stage presentation. Performing at major national and international events, on television and in recording studios, the Australian Girls Choir is regarded as the finest girls’ choir in the country. There is no greater testament to our reputation than our selection by Qantas to represent the ‘Spirit of Australia in their hugely successful ‘I Still Call Australia Home’ advertising campaigns.

The choir has toured on twenty occasions to destinations all over Australia and to every corner of the globe. The girls have entertained many dignitaries including Nelson Mandela, Queen Elizabeth II, Pope Benedict XVI, Pope John Paul II, the King of Tonga, former President Bill Clinton and Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark; and have performed at some wonderful venues around the world including St Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Abbey, St Peter’s Basilica, the Hanoi Opera House and Disneyland Los Angeles and Paris.

The choir sings a wonderfully diverse mix of music including well-known Australiana and Aboriginal songs, Broadway show tunes, international music and upbeat gospel numbers. The unique mix of repertoire with choreographed movement makes for an unforgettable performance.
