HAKOtte? – Sue Hajdu in Japan

A website documenting a delightful project by Saigon-based artist Sue Hajdu. Take a look!
HAKOtte?
a project by Sue Hajdu
April 29 – May 03, 2008
Sendai, Japan
HAKOtte? is a community-based relational project that took place in the public space of a shopping street in downtown Sendai, Japan. Over a 5-day period the artist created an economy of barter, exchanging boxes, and stories attached to boxes, with local Sendai people. Later, whilst on residency, this live project was re-worked into a set of narratives, presented here as a website. Many of the boxes are from the artist’s life in Saigon. Reading through the website might be akin to viewing a portrait of Saigon, particularly for those Hanoi Grapevine readers who are familiar with that city.

Our program has evolved in a pioneering spirit, in response to the gaps and needs of the Saigon art scene.
