Invitation to Art-Talk no 4- “Ca tru in the Spring time”

Ca trù (also known as hát ả đào), which combines the singing of female vocalists and sounds of such musical instruments as cỗ phách, đàn đáy (lute), and trống chầu (drum), belongs to the traditional art heritage of Vietnam. The rich content of literature and music in ca trù used to make it an elegant hobby of scholars and actors in the past, and now its harmony between singing, beating of phách and sound of đàn đáy is still attracting people by presenting a simple but fine, popular but scholarly beauty.

During the previous years, the art of ca trù has undergone lots of ups and downs and is now on the way to regain its status in the current Vietnam’s cultural and artistic life. Wishing to create an opportunity for everyone to hear ca trù, to feel and understand it, and consequently love and protect this heritage, GreenZoom would like to invite those who are interested in this topic to attend our fourth Art Talk with the theme of “Ca Trù in the Spring Time”.

With two parts of Sharing and Creating, the talk brings opportunity for participants to explore and exchange their feelings and understanding about ca trù, musical instruments used in a performance as well as enjoy typical songs of ca trù like Hát nói, Gửi thư, Tỳ bà…. This talk is organized in cooperation with Bích Câu Ca Trù Club (Hanoi).

Language: Vietnamese (English translation is available for foreign participants)
The talk is free and open for everyone. 25 seats are available for this Art Talk and we will confirm on the first come-first served basis.
