Starting this May, DOCLAB cordially introduces to you our VIDEO ART VIDEO Series. This series include mixture of video art, experimental films, documentaries film about artists…

This program will be a weekly event. Every Thursday from 3 – 5 pm at DOCLAB.

The first screening at 3 pm Thursday 13 May, DOCLAB presents:

• Un Chien Andalou/An Andalusian Dog by Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dalí (16 mins)
• Avant Garde Films Of the 1920s and ’30s: Man Ray, Marcel Duchamp, Fernand Leger, Hans Richter.(70 mins)

Un Chien Andalou is a sixteen minute silent surrealist short film produced in France by the Spanish director Luis Buñuel and artist Salvador Dalí. It was Dali’s first film and was initially released in 1929 to a limited showing in Paris, but became popular and ran for eight months. It is one of the best-known surrealist films of the avant-garde movement of the 1920s.

Rescreening of 8 experimental and avant-garde films from the 20s and 30s by highly influential artists and filmmakers — Man Ray, Marcel Duchamp, Fernand Leger, Hans Richter — representing many of of the movements and innovations emerging at the time, which remain influential within the art world. These films presents a record of the fulminating creativity and cross-pollination in art and film in the 1920s and ’30s.

All films are in English or silent.

The screening is non-profit and aims for studies and research only.
