Furoshiki Design Contest: calls for entry
Deadline: Fri 29 Oct 2010

The Japan Foundation Center is calling for entries from students especially university and vocational school students who are designers in the future to participate in the Second International Furoshiki Design Contest.

Furoshiki, or wrapping cloths, are stylish and distinctive everyday items emblematic of the Japanese tradition of wrapping things. Since they are reusable and therefore do not impose a burden on the environment, furoshiki have attracted renewed interest in recent years, both in Japan and elsewhere.

This year one entry will be awarded the grand prize with 100,000 yen reward and three others will be awarded prizes for excellence with 30,000 yen reward each; these four designs will be used to produce JF Original Furoshiki, thereby helping to promote interaction with other countries.
