Commens: Hanoi’s newly-formed electronic rock band consists of California transplants Ryan Chittick, Lilly Nguyen and Taylor Cavale. Commens draws upon electronic music, krautrock, post rock, minimalism and maximalism, blending sequenced electronics, synthesizers, and live drumming. Chittick and Nguyen have musical roots in the San Francisco music scene playing shows in clubs, warehouses and basements and touring the US and Europe with their various musical endeavors. Three people; a whole lot of sound.

Vu Nhat Tan Group: A group assembled around Vietnamese composer Vũ Nhật Tân performing improvised and experimental music. Solo DJ set by the man himself down in the HRC yard & a late night full-band performance in The Red Room. VNT has performed at major festivals & shows in Australia, Cambodia, China, France, Germany, Mongolia, Switzerland, the USA, and Vietnam.

Pham Quang Tran Minh: A founding member of Hanoi’s first rock band, Nhung Bac Thang, Minh has been heavily involved in Hanoi’s music scene since the late 80s. Minh’s recent work has consisted of more traditional rock and blues music, soundtrack work, performance art and collaborative improvisations with many different Vietnamese and Western musicians.
