DOCLAB’s Hard Rails Wins Best Film!
Congratulations to DOCLAB!
The combined four short films from The Long Bien Picture Show which was produced in 2010 were turned into a single, 45 minute documentary titled Hard Rails Across A Gentle River.
The film was in competition at the Salaya International Documentary Film Festival in Thailand – and won BEST FILM.
(The announcement was just made last Sunday night. The news is not on their website as of this writing but hopefully will be soon.)
The Directors were Tran Thi Anh Phuong, Do Van Hoang, Pham Thu Hang and Tran Thanh Hien, Produced by Nguyen Trinh Thi, Jamie Maxtone-Graham and DocLab with funding from British Council and support from Goethe Institut.
The announcement is now on their website – http://salayadoc.blog.com/ . From the jury about the film – “HARD RAILS ACROSS A GENTLE RIVER cleverly makes use of the location which are the bridge, the river and its surroundings to portray the many aspects of people’s everyday life in a big city of Hanoi especially the hardship, the hope and the struggle. Also the way it tells the story is engaging, captivating, emotional and heartfelt.”
Thanks to all the filmmakers involved and to all of DocLab’s supporters and friends.
It is great to know that the efforts of these filmmakers have been rewarded with well deserved recognition.
Their short documentaries were utterly engaging, informative and truly enjoyable. I went home after the screening with expanded knowledge and views of the life of the ordinary Vietnamese people.
Thank you for that and congratulations on your award!
