From CDEF:
“Dharma-Realm” – an exhibition opening the curtain to the mystery of Buddhism.
Buddhism is a religion to which the artist, Pham Quang Hieu is extremely grateful, and through his Installation and Interaction Video Art Exhibition “Dharma-Realm”, 23 – 25 May 2012, he seeks to present an explanation to the mysterious, multi-interpretive Buddhist concept “Dharma-Realm”.
In Buddhism, the concept of Dharma-Realm has two basic interpretations: Dharma-Realm is the perfect representation of the true nature of things and phenomena; or Dharma-Realm is the region, mind and circumstance in which a being exists. But what is the true nature of an existence, when human beings have so many different perspectives and feelings?
Through the exhibition “Dharma-Realm” Pham Quang Hieu wishes to present an image, which conveys both the extreme simplicity and the infinite complexity, to partly explain this Buddhist concept. His aim is to pierce a small hole in the curtain of mystery – the “inconceivable” – surrounding Buddhism.
In the Video Art Exhibition four different installation and interaction videos will be presented: Dharma-Realm, Buddhas, the Glass of Beer and Reflection. These videos view the world as a net knitted by countless things and each existence as an individual and as a whole, and hence contribute to the explanation of the true nature of an existence.
