Even in the hottest summer sun, Hanoi is a city of shades. In the shadows of its narrow streets or under its leafing flame trees, dark corners persist. Nothing is certain, moments are ambiguous, and everything takes on shades of gray. On Sunday, June 17, the monthly spoken word series Noi Hanoi brings together Vietnamese and foreign writers to explore this theme of “shades” and its various implications: bóng đen (black shadow), bóng dáng (appearance), and sắc thái (nuance). Please join us for an evening of poetry, stories, multimedia and spoken word. The night will also include an open mic and audience participation.
