Mon 11 Jun 2012, 2 pm
Goethe Institut
From DOCLAB:
In this workshop organized by Doclab, Andrew will discuss with the audience about his filmmaking, especially about the use of music in films, as well as his approaches in making films about music and arts. He will also screen and discuss a film he will edit out of short films made by new Doclab students surrounding the theme “essence of Hanoi”.
“VINYL – TALES FROM THE VIENNA UNDERGROUND” dỉrected by Andrew Standen-Raz will be screened on 8/6 at 7PM at 465 Hoang Hoa Tham, the Vietnam Documentary Film Studio, within the 4th European-Vietnam Documentary Film Festival.
Vinyl uncovers the co-existing worlds of experimental and electronic music in Vienna. It is also a love letter to the cultural phenomenon of vinyl records, a metaphor for something one loves, in spite of their imperfections and scratches, resembling the relationship between the musician and their city.
Andrew studied film at NYU in New York, and has worked on various projects with Arte, PBS and others. Currently he teaches at the department of Film, Media and Television in Vienna.
Free entrance.
