From Goethe Institut:

For the seventh time, Hanoi’s basses and amps will be turned up for new electric sounds. Like since the beginning, the Goethe-Institut will be in as supporter. We invite you to an extraordinary and experimental, at times poppy Music Live Event.

The Hanoi Sound Stuff (HSS) Festival has been founded by the sound pioneer Tri Minh in 2008 and is the first international electronic festival in Vietnam. Until today, Tri Minh manages the annual mega event that has become an institution in Hanoi. Besides offering a platform for Vietnam’s small but explosive electro scene, the HSS stands for an active exchange between European and Vietnamese artists.

The two main events in 2014 will be a sit-down electronic event with a mix of British, Belgian, French and Vietnamese artists on the first day, and a DJ dance event together with some of Vietnam’s best electronic/sounds artists on the second day. Two German solo artist will be present at that day as well: Good Guy Mikesh and Mijk van Dijk. In musician circles, the Leipzig based Good Guy Mikesh is known to be a prodigy, the guy with the perfect pitch, variable, precisely arranging and always one step further. On 11th April, Good Guy Mikesh will also perform in “The Observatory” in Ho Chi Minh City. Another visionary and living legend is Mijk van Dijk. He was one of the first artists to emerge from the early Berlin Techno scene. Today, he is celebrated for his unique sounds far beyond Germany.

From Leipzig to Hanoi: Good Guy Mikesh

Good Guy Mikesh

Over the last couple of years, Michael Schiedt has gained to be a prodigy: His productions as Good Guy Mikesh drop one sure shot after the other, some call him Leipzig’s Timberlake, a virtuoso of a debonair arrogation. He was performing live a lot, mostly as One-Man-Pop-Electro-Soul-Band, but he has also built up a solid discography with his DJ-partner Filburt. From this point, he could’ve chosen the easy way. He could’ve taken his insights into Space Disco and House and produce himself into the Decks-charts, entertaining dance floors every other day. But that just wouldn’t be enough. Every move Mikesh makes is about Pop music. Not for the self-purpose of the big gesture, but the devoted handling of this universal language’s rules. A language that Mikesh is speaking flawlessly, in all dialects you could imagine, be it R’n’B, Disco or New Wave.

From Berlin to Hanoi: Mijk van Dijk

Mijk van Dijk

Michael van den Nieuwendijk aka Mijk van Dijk is a living legend: Already in the 80s, when electro was only played in top secret abandoned cellars, the Berlin artist has discovered his passion for synthesizers and drum computers. It was his unique mix of hard beats and emotive melodies that have coined the term “Trance” – a music that today carries away masses of millions. With his rich and hypnotizing pieces, Mijk has been touring worldwide and developed an especially strong bond with Japan, where he is celebrated one of the best DJs worldwide. In the past couple of years, he has revisited his first love Funk and now merges all his musical strengths into a sound of House, which includes his love for Boogie beats as well as his old school expertise and his trademark sounds from a musical career of over two decades.
