Wed 10 Dec 2014, 7 pm
Goethe Institut
From Goethe Institut:
Přemysl Vojta is considered one of the great French horn players in the German music scene. He was born in the Czech Republic, but began his career in Germany and can now be heard in numerous concert halls in Europe. Currently he is principal horn in the Konzerthausorchester in Berlin. Among the works with which he became well known is the Horn Concerto No. 2 by Richard Strauss, with which he won the ARD Music Competition in 2010. He will perform the Vietnam premiere of this work together with the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, at the invitation of the Goethe Institute.
On this occasion we would like to introduce Přemysl Vojta to the audience in Hanoi. He will talk about his music career, his relationship with Richard Strauss and his favourite modern composers. Excerpts from concerts with Přemysl Vojta will also be shown. In the second part of the evening there will be an introduction to Richard Strauss’ major tone poem “An Alpine Symphony”.
On the occasion of the 150th birthday of Richard Strauss, the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, in collaboration with the Goethe-Institute, will perform a series of concerts of works by this composer. The series begins with the concert evenings on the 12th and 13th of December, with the Horn Concerto No. 2 and the Alpine Symphony. The series will continue in the spring and autumn of 2015 with two further Richard Strauss concerts.
At the talk 2×2 tickets for the two upcoming concerts will be drawn.
