From Goethe Institut:

Christine Nguyen, born in California as the daughter of a Vietnamese family, shows her exhibition “The Cosmos and the Sea” in December at Gallerie Quynh in HCMC. The Goethe Institute Hanoi invites her, to present her work at an artist talk for the interested audience in Hanoi.

Christine Nguyen relates inspiration for her art again and again from the natural sciences. She found particularly suggestions from natural scientists of the 19th century, like Ernst Haeckel: biologist, philosopher, physician and artist; John Muir: writer, conservationist and advocate of the preservation of the wilderness and Anna Atkins: botanist and photographer. Christine Nguyen works has expanded into various mediums over the decade. She has developed a photographic process where she creates her own negatives on mylar through drawing and painting, and print them in a photo enlarger (analogue) and more recently digitally. She has also been experimenting with cyanotypes as well as with growing salt crystals on collected vegetation and other surfaces such as photographic paper, paper, and glass.
