KVT – Value for Money at Manzi
KVT is totally impressed with the quality loads of art work
Manzi is buzzing because they and Work Room 4 have a really truly good value art bazaar crowding walls and tables. When I was there to get a look yesterday I had to zip and zap and grab opportune moments so that my images weren’t full of viewers and not art works
A lot of people are there to have a look, buyers in the know are filling slots in their art collections with real high profile names at bargain prices, some are deciding on a purchase because a particular work hits them in the solar plexus and they just have to have it
My problem is that my purse full of money to buy Vietnamese art for this year was depleted by July when I scraped the remaining dollars from the bottom and snapped up two small works by a young man whom I (and a lot of others) consider will be the one of the Vietnamese art world’s NEXT BIG THING
So was I ever p*issed off when I saw two dead rats by this maestro, Nguyen Dinh Hoang Viet from Hue had already been purchased….one just two minutes while I was still vacillating about digging into next year’s treasury
A couple of others of his are on the walls and I just might get in today and grab the lizard
If this was next year and my purse was full I’d fill definitely get a small sketch by very famous Ha Manh Thang (and am still tempted)
I’d add a papier mache sculpture or two by Thai Nhat Minh
Definitely a sketch by Pham Ngoc Duong of squashed up gorgeousness
An early work by Nguyen The Son of buildings under construction wrapped in striped plastic wouldn’t go astray
And I want, I want, I want one of those water color ponds by Nguyen Huy An….and if you get in fast there’s till an unframed beauty on a table
And speaking of bargain tables they are loaded with bargains
If someone hasn’t picked up the sketches by ultra famous Nguyen Manh Hung and you get one you’re in for a real value treat
If you are into the work of another up and coming who was a sell out recently in TP HCM and who opened a show at Chula yesterday then you’re in for a great surprise with the nice bits by Ngo Van Sac
For an extra Xmassie treat for myself I’d also consider a lot of the pieces by Truong Tien Tra
I’ve got to stop now or I’ll miss the Grapevine publication deadline….thus my apologies for any untoward mistakes i’ve made with names and images etc…I’ll try to get the gremlins and the nice people from Grapevine to fix any glitches.
It’s on until 7pm of DEC 8 and it’s a real whirl of activity
