From Goethe Institut:
With the exhibition Concept Context Contestation the Goethe-Institut in collaboration with the Bangkok Art and Culture Center (BACC) is presenting contemporary art from Southeast Asia.
On June 15 at 6 pm, three days before the opening of the exhibition, the curators Iola Lenzi (Singapore) and Vipash Purichanont (Thailand) are presenting the artworks and explaining their concept of the exhibition in a guided tour through the setup. The visitors also get the chance to talk to those artists who are developing a second making of their artworks for Hanoi, among others the artist Bui Cong Khanh.
Within an artist talk on June 18 at 7 pm, the curator Iola Lenzi introduces the exhibition and talks with regional artists about contemporary art in Southeast Asia.
Initiated by three curators from Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand, the exhibition was shown at BACC in Bangkok last year. On invitation of the Goethe-Institut, a small selection of works is now to be seen as a traveling project in Hanoi from 18 – 30 Jun, 2015.
Concept Context Contestation shows the work of 14 Southeast Asian artists, among them five artists from Vietnam. The exhibited artworks – performances, interactive installations, painting and photography up to sound installations – are showing the complex artistic development of the region of the last four decades.
