From the organizer:

“David and Luisa” and “Summer Rain” are two love stories: one is Vietnamese and happened in Hanoi, the other is purely American and happened in Los Angeles.

“David and Luisa” is about two acting students in Hollywood, California, USA. It describes the psychological development of the characters, the conflict between reality and dream and between daily life and their life on the stage.

This film was shot in Los Angeles, California, when Director Bui Trung Hai studied filmmaking at the New York Film Academy. This short film was part of the two-year Master’s course in filmmaking art (Master of Fine Arts in Filmmaking)

Entirely written and directed by Hai, “David and Luisa” won the Bronze Remi Award at the 48th Annual WorldFest – Houston International Film Festival in the United States (2015).
– This will be the Vietnamese premiere of “David and Luisa”.
– 22-minutes running time. English with Vietnamese subtitles.

“Summer Rain” is a purely Vietnamese film with all Vietnamese cast and it was shot entirely in Hanoi.

A young bride from Hanoi and now living in Ho Chi Minh City, discovers her husband’s infidelity and decides to return to the city she came from. There she meets her former lover…

Also written and directed by Hai, the film was shown in Official Competition Program of the 14th Clermont – Ferrand Short Film Festival (2002) in France and selected for Official Competition of the 29th Annual Honorary Foreign Student Academy Awards Competition (Oscars, USA, 2002).
– 19-minutes running time. Vietnamese with English subtitles.

The two films total running time: 42 minutes.

There will be a Question and Answer session afterwards with Director Hai.
