From Heritage Space:

Heritage Space warmly invites you to attend the talk “Curating: An Artist’s Perspective”, given by artist/curator Trong Gia Nguyen.

Trong Gia Nguyen will be speaking about his experiences of working over 15 years as a full time artist and independent curator in both the United States and abroad. Most recently, Nguyen curated the inaugural exhibition TechNoPhobe at the newest and most ambitious contemporary art space in Ho Chi Minh City, the Factory Contemporary Arts Center. In addition to being an artist, Nguyen has also worked in numerous capacities at galleries, institutions, alternative and not-for-profit spaces, universities, online and hard publications, art fairs, PR firms, and many others. His diverse and wide ranging experience, from artist to gallery director, to blogger, critic, panelist, professor, art handler, etc., contributing a unique vantage point on the inner workings of the art world in scenes and cities big and small. In 2001, he produced a yearlong project in which he played a number of these “roles,” using Ebay as a medium to inventory everything inside his Brooklyn apartment. Currently Nguyen is working on a documentary film about his family’s immigration, which influenced last year’s solo show “The Leavers” at Galerie Quynh in Saigon.
