From the organizer:
The Classical Ballet program will brings to public a number of famous ballet works successfully performed by Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera.
Ballet “Carmen”
First performed around the same time as “The Bat” by J. Strauss II, “Carmen” was not enthusiastically welcomed because of its new perspectives and contents in comparison to the traditional theater of France at the time. However, after performing at Vienna (1875) and London (1878), “Carmen” received widespread acclaim. The play was then translated to many different languages and became one of the most famous musicals in the world.
Watch a trailer of the play produced by the American theatre director Francesca Zambello:
Another prominent ballet play in the program is a hallmark of the young French choreographer Julien Guérin: “Dépaysement”. The two main characters of the ballet will be played by the most two talented ballerinas of HBSO: Tran Hoang Yen and Chloe Glémot.
