Room 403, Lake View Building, D10 Giang Vo, Ba Dinh, Hanoi

From the organizer:

“When you read a good novel, you forget about the nationality of the character. You forget about his or her religion. You forget about his skin color or her skin color. You only understand the human. You understand that this is a human being, the same way we are. And so reading great novels absolutely can remake us as much better human beings.”

– Egyptian writer Alaa Al Aswany wrote in his essay “How Literature Inspires Empathy”

From what he wrote, we understand that literature brings the worlds of others to us. We study them, study ourselves, and see the differences that, hopefully, awaken our good qualities. This is one of the most important “missions” of cultivating empathy, and it is where empathy meets literature.

How can literature nurture empathy? How does literature teach us to look into the lives of others? What is the boundary between the reconstruction and mergence of human personalities? Come and find out at the talk show “What Literature Tells Us About Others”.
