To say hello to the Year of Dog with a bright vision of the future of Vietnamese and international experimental music, and with the return of training courses, monthly concerts and the Hanoi New Music Festival in November 2018, DomDom and Heritage Space are proud to present the program “BEYOND SOUND of 2018”, featuring the “hottest” generation of Vietnamese experimental musicians and international guests.
Who will you meet in this show?
You will get to enjoy live music performances by the Japanese saxophonist/video artist Katsura Yamauchi; amazing new work by the Austrian-Vietnamese duo Siedl Cao entitled “Parallel Asteroid”: a real-time musical sculpture; and a series of improvise musical performances by emerging Vietnamese experimental musicians: Thuỳ Dung/đàn tranh (plucked zither), Hương Nguyễn/objects, Thanh Tâm/objects, Nguyễn Việt/saxophone, Nguyễn Đỗ Minh Quân/electronics.

About the series:
‘BEYOND SOUND’ is a series of concerts of experimental music aiming to reveal the latest works of Vietnamese and foreign composer/ musician. The program is curated and organized by Heritage Space and Dom Dom. Full info here.
About the organizers:
– Heritage Space is a combination of a gallery, library, concert hall, co-working space, boarding room and outdoor space with the possibility of organizing exhibitions, concerts and performances, education and exchange, artists residency programs, and many other activities. Run by a team of curators, art researchers, and artists, Heritage Space is aspiring to become an intersection of individuals/groups/ organizations from a wide range of domestic and international creative fields, with a long-term goal to support and develop the creative industry in Vietnam.
– DOMDOM: Being a Hub for Experimental Music and Art, Domdom has been created in 2012 as the first independent interdisciplinary center dedicated to Vietnamese experimental music and its collaboration with other art forms. Running by artist Kim Ngoc and the husband Xuan Son (Son X), Domdom has been playing essential role in the Vietnamese art & music scenes. (http://www.domdommusic.org/)
