You are invited to an introduction session of the book “Lời người Mandi hiện đại: Người yêu tiếng Việt trọn đời” (“Words from a Modern Mandi: A person who loves Vietnamese all his life”) our guest speaker Nguyen Lan Binh, the author of the book. He is also the grandson of scholar Nguyen Van Vinh; Professor Chu Hao – the director of Tri Thuc Publishing house.

The book belongs to “Lời người Mandi hiện đại”, a 14-volume collection of notable works by scholar Nguyen Van Vinh during his 30 years of working as a journalist (1907-1936). He was a patriotic scholar with a pioneering mindset, devoting his time to study on social issues. A person who, with all his strength, intelligence and diverse knowledge, committed to Vietnamese until the end of his life so that his people like to use chữ quốc ngữ (the Romanized Vietnamese script). Then from that excitement, they will love this script as if it were a part of them.

Author Nguyen Lan Binh had been working wholeheartedly to collect, store and compile various documents for the book. Reading the book, you will feel the passion, the spirit and the resilience of Nguyen Van Vinh, a pioneer in a minor group determined to prove the impeccable value of chữ quốc ngữ over the old scripts used for many years in the past which were considered for the “elite” back in the day, and to make chữ quốc ngữ the national script.
