From Hanoi Grapevine, KOAF and Kinergie Studio:

An unprecedented talk show with experienced artists and those who are interested in DANCE with an intriguing topic: Dialogue between dance and other arts – through the experience of the artists themselves.

Some of the questions you might get yourselves an answer are: 1. Where does inspiration for a dance performance come from? Does it come from other arts like music, cinema, visual arts, literature… or from everyday life? 2. When creating a dance performance, how do they mix, blend the elements of other arts? That, for each artist, is a unique journey with multiple possible answers.

And for you – the audience, what elements you see from a dance performance? Is it the body movements in silence, or along with the music, in space, on stage setting , with visual effect, etc…Everything moves quickly, slowly, or frozen like a sculpture, a photograph, a movie scene, a play, a painting, and more… Sometimes it is very difficult to describe all of the elements. Why do these performances attract us so much? What is the “secret” behind that attraction?

After this talk, maybe we could see dance and other arts under a different light, and life in general would be a little more interesting, more diverse, or just a little more different.

It is through dance that the body expresses itself, reveals its depth and connects with other art forms. KOAF 2019: Dialogue between dance & the other arts is a real moment for dance and arts community in Hanoi to meet and highlight the collaboration between dance, various art forms and diverse cultures.

With Sébastien Ly (choreographer, founder of KOAF), Do Hoang Thi Ngoc (one of the pioneering contemporary dancers in Vietnam, co-founder of Kinergie Studio), Nguyen Duy Thanh (dance artist with remarkable body language and stage image), musician Nguyen Xuan Son (Sơn X) – who has left a long-lasting impression with his sophisticated, minimalist and valuable compositions in the dance performances of Vietnamese-born French choreographer Thủy Ea Sola in the 90’s and the beginning of 00’s. All the artists have had diverse interaction and experience in the country and abroad.
