HCMC: 06 – 08 Dec 2019
Hanoi: 13 – 15 Dec 2019

From the organizer:

“Every single gesture of any part of the body reveals some features of our inner life.” (R. Laban, The Mastery of Movement)

Dance is a wonderful means and your body is an amazing tool. In this course, we are going to explore nonverbal expression and communication through movement and discover how this can transform our emotional experience.

The course will lead you to explore some of the infinite movement opportunities given by Laban’s Movement Analysis. It is a comprehensive vocabulary and analytic framework with which to identify patterns and changes of movement to perceive meaning. Learn to analyze the body in motion to become a more dynamic mover and communicator through understanding your movement preferences and investigate the many ways the body can shape itself and project into space. LMA supports creative work in fields as diverse as Performing Arts, Music, Business, Psychology, Anthropology, Physical Therapy, Medical Research, Animation/CGI/Robotics, Ergonomics, Kinesiology, Non-verbal Communications, among many others.

Movement is life. Creative movement is the expression of life beyond words and shapes. During the hours together participants will be partly led through tasks and partly will get room to work on self-expression. The balance between individual tasks and group works will give everyone a vast and differentiated perception of movement harmonized into dance.

Laban believed that dance can be both for dancers and non-dancers. Each human being can enjoy a different part of it. So don’t be afraid: you are suitable for this experience, whatever your background is. Just two things are necessary: interest for movement and for personal well-being.

Teachers, facilitators of different creative fields can find resources for inspiration and tools to support their work and explore the field of dance and movement from a different and enriching perspective which is LMA.
