VFMD – “Hidden Cities” Workshop

This workshop explores how to observe the ordinary places you live. Whether you are from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, you will encounter the hidden city everyday. It is hidden through it’s ordinariness. You no longer see what is happening because it is there every. Using typographic silkscreens and your memory, you will map out your favourite street or district, using symbols to describe what events take place there. This can be street food and drinks, tradesman, cafes and restaurants. You may want to map the flow of motorbikes, pedestrians, flowers, gardens and greenery. Your creations will then be hung in the creative lab to compliment a live audio visual performance based on the hems of district 4 in Ho Chi Minh City. At the end you can take your artwork home.
